S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 2 – LINE ART P1 PATTERN

A Line is the path of a point moving through space that describes a shape or outline.
I used short, broken lines for the road and long, continuous lines for the sidewalk.
Overall, the lines direct the viewer's eyes to the end of the road and communicate movement, as if the viewer was in a vehicle.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 3 – EOFA LINE P2 DIRECTION

I used curvilinear, vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines. Horizontal lines suggest quiet and rest while, Vertical lines evoke strength and stillness. The curved lines on the stairs causes the viewer to look up or down the stairs because curves create movement. The calm curve gives the room an empty feeling. It can also be very mysterious.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 4 – EOFA LINE P3 STRUCTURE

I used thick lines on the rocket to make it appear strong and sturdy. I used thin lines for the light reflections on the fins to make them appear elegant. Also, I used tapered lines for the fire to draw the viewer's eye to the rocket.
Overall, I was trying to communicate the speed and strength the spacecraft.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 5 – EOFA LINE P4: JAGGED & GRACEFUL LINE (TEXTURE)

I used jagged lines to communicate destruction and damage.
I used graceful lines to give a fragile and delicate feeling to the eggshell.
The direction of the lines show a crack in the egg and the structure of the curved lines show that it is a rounded object.
Overall, I was trying to communicate that things in nature are fragile and delicate. They should be handled with care.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 6 - EOFA SHAPE

In this piece, I am trying to communicate strength and unity amongst the buildings. I want the viewer to understand that the buildings belong. You too are stronger together if you work with others. I used triangles which form parallel, vertical lines. This conveys strength and unity.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 7 - EOFART FORM

With this piece, I am trying to communicate unity and togetherness in a community. I want my audience to know that they can fit in and belong to a group despite their differences. I used curved lines to create a circular shape that takes the three dimensional form of an apple.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 8 - EOFART VALUE

With this piece, the viewer might feel beauty, mystery, darkness and/or even light. In other words, I want my viewers to take away the message that there is beauty in things that we might think are odd, out of place or not commonly associated with darkness. Flowers are supposed to be beautiful but I used shadows to create a mysterious darkness about the vase of flowers. The use of light is there to contradict the darkness and support the beauty of the flowers.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 9 - EOFART SPACE

I used black for the positive space to show the presence of a possible opposing force. The use of negative space shows the hope and the chance that the player has since he still has pieces on the board. I used linear perspective to show depth in the piece.
I used three-dimensional space to create this depth. I didn’t incorporate the Rule of Thirds because I wanted the board to be centered in the middle of the frame.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 10 – EOFART PERSPECTIVE

For this artwork I used two-point perspective which means that the lines come together to make two points on either side of the piece. The vertical lines are parallel to each other and there are no horizontal lines in order to sell the perspective effect.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 11 - EOFA TEXTURE

To imply texture, I used different shades of colors and different brushes. The shades allow for more diversity which gives a more rough feeling. Conversely, if I used one solid color it would look smooth. The different brushes also add to making the texture look rough. Shadow is used to make it look three-dimensional.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 12 - QUESTIONING REALITY (POFDESIGN BALANCE
/ PUPPET WARP)

This piece exhibits Asymmetric Balance because different areas of the frame are taken up by things that feel like they would have a contrasting visual weight. The hot air balloon, along with the smaller buildings, serve to balance out the largest building in the middle of the frame. The center building appears to curve toward the balloon, almost like a spiral. This shape looks similar to a question mark, an unusual shape for a building, causing viewers to question reality.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 13 - REFLECTION & TRANSLATIONAL SYMMETRY
ARTWORK

This first piece depicts Reflection Symmetry, an effect I achieved by taking half of the image and flipping it vertically. This gives the illusion that the water is reflecting the ducks. You could also use the same technique horizontally if you want it to look that way.

This next piece depicts Translation Symmetry which I achieved by copying the window layer so that each window can look out to the next. Each window is translated deeper in the image to convince people of the illusion that they’re looking into another space.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 14 – POFD EMPHASIS

For this assignment I was tasked to incorporate Emphasis in three different ways: by isolating the subject, by changing the color or tone of the subject, and by placing it in a particular place. To achieve this I chose a red rose which I placed in the foreground in the middle of the frame to isolate it from the rest of the roses as well as to center it, since placement is a factor. I also used the blur tool on the background to help emphasize the rose in the foreground.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 15 – POFDESIGN PROPORTION / SCALE

The objective of this assignment is to make a piece that exemplifies proportion/scale which means that the piece would have to have something adjusted in size, location, or amount in comparison to something else. This piece satisfies the assignment criteria because the man is made to look larger by scaling him up and sitting him on the house. The shadow that I added in also helps to sell the effect.

S2 PORTFOLIO PROJECT 16 – POFDESIGN PATTERN

This piece is an example of the principle of design: pattern which is when elements are repeated in a way that is visually appealing. The objective of this assignment was to create a piece that displays pattern which I achieved using regular patterns. The regular pattern method that I used was the block repeat method to get the die faces to line up in a grid.
